The Haitian community in Detroit like other immigrant communities in the United States confronts a number of difficulties in adjusting to their host country. Among those problems are mental health issues and their manifestations in everyday life. In this presentation, risk factors likely to affect the mental health and academic performance of school age children and selected childhood disorders will be presented and discussed.
